Flourish Recipients of the Age-Friendly Grant through the Province

The Flourish Centre is so pleased to announce that Flourish has received funding from the Age-Friendly Communities Grant!

An updated webpage listing all funded projects is also available:

Our project has already begun and is called “Window on Seniors” and has three moving parts….

Every month there will be a free luncheon to those 55+in the community and surrounding communities. This is called Lunch & Share, the idea is to have four seniors briefly talk about their life and where they are from. This program is aimed at reducing Senior social isolation. Takes place the third Friday of each month for a year.

The second piece is Multicultural – In the Kitchen Together, this invites newcomers and their families to come to the Centre, create a meal from their culture, prepare it together in the kitchen and then share the meal. Gathering and breaking bread is the best way to get to know someone and welcome them into a new community. Flourish is multicultural and intergenerational. Those interested are asked to call the Centre and speak with Lisa LeBlanc at 902-543-2226.

The third and final piece is to preserve together, and share what’s made.

Thank you to the Province and the Age-Friendly Communities Grant for making all of this possible!
